Dipa Basnet
Dipa Basnet is a film graduate from College of Film Studies (Tribhuvan University), she is currently doing her masters. A well-appreciated new kind of film cinema in Nepali Film Industry “Antaraal” is her first feature length debut direction film.
Her journey to a feature length started since 2004 when she started to work in theatres. She performed in 25 stage dramas. “Bhado” is her first short film officially selected in Torronto Nepali Film Festival in 2011 apart from which she has directed several other short films and documentaries.
She worked as video editor in Terai Television in 2007 and in Nepal Forum of Environmental Journalist from 2008 to 2011.
Her young career has some good achievements like participation in prize winning Broadway American Drama “A RAISING IN THE SUN” on March 21, 2007; participation in a play – Soor, Mudra Haruko Mahabhoj and Barud Satabdi in 2062, play –Bisthapan in 2063; participation in The 2nd World Congress in Yoga & Naturopathy (25-29 June 2002), Kathmandu, Nepal, Organized by, The Open University for Complementary Medicines, Sri-Lanka-Nepal Branch; first prize in Debate Competition in Ghar Aagan Manch, first prize in Debate Competition by Children Welfare Council, etc.
Her greatest achievement till date is the national award 2070 where she was awarded as the best director award 2070 from her debut feature movie "Antaral", previously she was awarded as the best debut director on D'Cine award 2070.
As her second most awaited project, Nepali feature movie "Shree panch Ambarey" is going to be released on Mangsir-5'2071 where we can watch her expertise as the best movie director.
Currently, she is working on her new projects in Jibansathi Films Pvt. Ltd. as scriptwriter and director. (For reference:
